53Tabs Lan party

This past week we had our first annual 53Tabs lan party. It was a great week with many computers looking into the events that took place. We started out getting a BattleField 2 server up and we played that for hours. Second was BattleField 2142. Our squad did very well in every match, and we almost dominated every battle. After That we went old school with the classic Diablo 2 action.

We had four computers running on a local lan, and 64 other computers from all over the world playing along with us. This lan party was very last minute and only people who could be found in an IM conversation joined in the action, however next time their will be a posting about it in advance on 53Tabs.

its iPhone day!

Its finally hear. Today Apple will start selling their new iPhone at 6pm local time at Apple Stores around the country. Kristopher Tate, Thomas Hawk and Robert Scoble are at the front of the iPhone line at the Palo Alto Apple Store and they are streaming live on Zooomr TV via Ustream. Thomas has been taking some great photos of the iPhone line as it mutates and evolves.

Yesterday Revesion3 was there, shooting a new Diggnation episode with Alex Albrecht and Kevin Rose. Also Cali Lewis from GeekBrief.TV shot some video’s of her sitting in line, and will also shoot an episode from inside the apple store itself.

Justin.tv

pownce

Finally after many weeks of anticipation Kevin Rose’s new project goes live. So what is pownce? Pownce is a way to send messages, files, links, and events to your friends. You’ll create a network of the people you know and then you can share stuff with all of them, just a few of them, or even just one other person really fast. So how do I join this? Well right now you have to get on a list, and if your lucky enough you will get an invite. Who makes this thing? Pownce is brought to you by a bunch of geeks who were frustrated trying to send stuff from one cube to another. The team consists of Leah Culver, Kevin Rose, Daniel Burka, and Shawn Allen. Together, we formed a wee company with a great big name, Megatechtronium, that makes this software.
