Photos from inside an abandoned Titan missile silo

Jonathan Haeber of Terrastories took these incredible photographs from inside an abandoned Titan I missile site. He writes,

On Memorial Day of 2007, and then again in December, I visited two separate Titan I missile sites. The first was quite the introduction. The second was mind-blowing. There are no words to describe being in what is perhaps the world’s largest underground missile complex. In fact, I’ve tried more than once, and in my mind have not achieved an adequate description. Last month, I clicked on a random link and encountered the narrative of another man who had done the same. His words, and his story came much closer to describing the feeling in detail. Even better, this man knew all of the intricacies of the base. He was a true savant of Titan I – and probably the foremost non-military expert of these historic bases. I contacted him and asked if he would be willing to talk about his experience and he readily agreed. Discovering the History of a Titan I Base (Terrastories)

New Left 4 Dead 2 zombies, items unveiled

article_img3One of the new infected unveiled today via GameSpy is a new boss infected called the Spitter. Like the Smoker from Left 4 Dead 1, the Spitter prefers to attack from range, but favours lobbing acidic phlegm at survivors rather than tongue-grappling them.

The acidic venom of the Spitter apparently works like a sticky mortar round, heavily damaging any survivors caught in the spray and then hanging around and causing damage to anyone who walks through that spot again. According to Valve, the Spitter (which will be playable in Versus mode) is a strategically designed class whose main function is splitting up groups by lobbing some gob at them and forcing them to scatter – making them vulnerable to other infected.

Apple tablet pic ‘leaked’ ?

itouch-ipad-1

Throw away everything you thought you knew about the truth. This is the one. We can’t wait to stuff one awkwardly into the fake keyboard tray of our fake MacBook Micro and live life just how Apple rumor sites have always wanted us to live it. Granted, Nowhere Else has gotten some pretty great scoops in the past, so we won’t rule anything out just now. The pic above lines up pretty well with all the rumors we’ve heard so far — which sort of helps and sort of hinders its veracity in our eyes. Nowhere Else isn’t calling it either way, if that helps you in your soul search for the truth. Another pic is after the break.

UFC: We’re at war with EA Games

article_img1Dana White, the president of the Ultimate Fighting Championship has claimed that the UFC is now “at war” with Electronic Arts, after taking offence to how the publisher has responded to the fledgling sport.

White says that he tried to interest publishers in creating a licensed game based on the UFC not long ago, but got a flat no from EA and later went on to produce the successful UFC Undisputed 2009 with THQ. Interested by how much the sport has taken off, EA is now looking to create a rival title and has been attempting to license UFC fighters to appear in the game.

Valve Announces New L4D campaign

article_imgAmid the grumbles of dissent following the announcement of Left 4 Dead 2 were cries for continued support and content for the original. This isn’t surprising, given Valve’s reputation for continued support for its multi-player titles. Valve has decided to answer those anguished cries demanding more zombie splatterfication carnage by announcing a brand new full length campaign for Left 4 Dead, expected to hit both PC and Xbox 360 in September.
